PrintIT! Scotland is an exciting competition created for students of Standard Grade Graphic Communication. The competition project work is designed to be interesting and fun, with the chance to win prizes.

The aim of PrintIT! Scotland, which is a collaboration between the printing industry, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the Fairtrade Foundation, is to give students the opportunity to learn more about the UK’s vibrant printing industry, which is part of the fifth largest manufacturing sector in the UK, and offer you an insight into the range of career opportunities that exist within one of our most advanced and high-tech industries.

Students will be asked to create a print-based campaign for the Fairtrade Foundation. Your entries will be judged by a panel of experts and prizes will be awarded for the best work submitted. You will be able to use the Polestar printdynamics™ and Belmont Press Print Companion software packages to help you find out about the various print production options available to you. The skills you will learn through PrintIT! Scotland are highly relevant to your Standard Grade Graphic Communication Course and we hope that it will help you to gain a greater understanding of printing processes.

In addition, PrintIT! Scotland also includes a “twinning” scheme, whereby we shall do our utmost to “twin” schools with local printers to enable students to find out first-hand what a great place the printing industry can be for young people to build their careers.
